Frequently asked questions

Which use of Starling is free and which features are paid for?

The Starling Desktop application (see here) for Windows, Mac and Linux is entirely free to download and all its offline capabilities are available without an account and without any payment. Just like the stock file managers we've come to use in our every-day life, we don't charge you for benefiting from our product on your devices, and we're happy if our product makes a meaningful impact in your life.

The paid features of Starling are available through the Starling Shop, which you can find directly in the Starling Desktop application or here on the website. The paid features allow users to connect multiple desktops, i.e. their own and/or of others, so that it is possible to collaborate on your data using Starling. Starling can then understand which user did what, and augment its internal data model with this information.

I need help, where can I find it?

We are currently working hard on building out our support resources, such as tutorials, demos, help articles, tips... We are aware that a lot of material is still missing, but we hope you'll be able to get started by for instance checking out our blog tutorials. You'll also find helpful videos on our Youtube channel.

For in-person help you can reach out to us on our Discord channel. We'd be happy to meet you there.
